Mt. Potosi

What is the most perfect thing to do on a beautiful day in December? If you're a Frisco, you would say, "Go to the SNOW!"

That is what we did on this beautiful Sunday morning. We packed up all of our snow gear and headed up to the mountains. And of course we had to bring Jasper along! We decided to go to Mt. Potosi because it's closer to our house than Mt. Charleston. Plus, with it being the week before Christmas, we knew Mt. Charleston was going to be packed. So in true Frisco Family fashion, we chose the road less traveled. Literally. :)

This is where we were headed:

Looks fun, right?

Aubrey was in heaven as soon as we got there. She LOVED the snow.

Jasper didn't have any fun whatsoever...
Still not having any fun...

Ariana didn't know what to think of the snow. I put her down in the snow and she would not move.
Me and my baby girl who wouldn't let me put her down!
Nick being the goofball that he is!

Beautiful Aubrey and her chunk of snow:
Ariana smiling... only because, contrary to what you might think looking at this picture, she is NOT touching the snow:

After we had some lunch we got back in the car and drove up the road as far as we could go and then went for a hike. We saw a couple of Jack Rabbits and thank God Jasper didn't see them because A) We never would have seen Jasper again because he would've taken off running and B) Jasper would probably kill the rabbit. It was a beautiful area though and we are ready to move up there right about... now.

Hubby and Wifey in the snow!
We all know Ariana is a crazy Baby Monster. She climbs everything, gets into everything, laughs when you tell her no, and is just TROUBLE from the moment she wakes up to the moment she goes to sleep.

But. Let me tell you. The Baby Monster has met her match! As soon as we put her in the snow, she did not like it. Not one little bit. :)

Ariana refused to walk in the snow. I'm not sure why. All I know is that the minute we would put her down, she would start yelling, "Ow! Ow!!!!" And if you didn't pick her up within 0.38227 seconds, she would start crying and would.not.move.a.muscle.

However, when we were out hiking in the snow, we found a clearing and right there in the middle was an Ariana-sized rock. I plopped her down on the rock and whaddyaknow? She was happy sitting on her little rock!

She was still a little freaked out by the snow. And for a child that NEVER stops moving, it was funny watching her sit verrrrrryyyy still on her rock, making sure not to touch the "ow", I mean snow. :)

Me, being the sweet Mommy that I am, decided to freak her out even more. I said, "Ariana! Watch this!" and I grabbed a big ball of fluffy white snow and took a bite. You should've seen the look on Ariana's face! She was clearly very worried about me, and the distressed look on her face made me laugh so hard (once again, I prove to be such a caring, sensitive mother!) Of course, Nick and Aubrey decided to the same thing and so all 3 of us sat there eating snow and Ariana was looking at us like we had all lost our minds!

When we all stopped eating snow and were not so focused on Ariana, she decided to pick up a teeny tiny piece of snow and take a bite (when no one was looking). She ended up liking it and ate a couple more bites. :)

Once we were all packed up and on the way home Aubrey said, "Mommy, this was the best day ever." And I have to agree with her 100%.
